A TREASURE HOUSE OF INFORMATION

If I mention the AARP a lot, it’s because their site is a treasure house of information for seniors. For example, here’s a treasure, called, prosaically, “INTERNET RESOURCES.” Please don’t despise it for its lack of pizzaz. Just check it out. For example, under “Finding Community Services,” you’ll see, “Free Or Low Cost Services By State.” And “Additional Support In My Own Home.” Is that good stuff or what? And there’s lots more where that came from.

And there’s more. If you put medicare into the AARP search box, you’ll get much down-to-earth help about Medicare and the Medicare prescription program, all beautifully laid out.

And, likewise, if you put health into their search box you’ll find a good deal more information. They lean toward health insurance information, because that’s so often a problem for seniors.

FINANCIAL PLANNING FOR YOUR RETIREMENT

Financial planning for retirement should of course be done while you’re still young, but it’s better started late than never. And the oddly named MOTLEY FOOL financial site has a treasury of information that is anything but foolish:

TOOL KIT FOR ADVANCE HEALTH CARE PLANNING

The AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION has valuable material about advance health care planning. The section titled “What Is An Advance Directive” offers a toolkit and “ten legal myths about advance medical directives.”
