ON GUARD ONLINE

ON GUARD ONLINE, a site put up by the U.S. government, is good on many levels – good for kids and good for grownups. If your child goes to the main page and clicks on “Friend Finder” he or she plays a game that teaches the dangers of online “friends” you don’t know:

If you want in-depth parental controls for your child’s computer, however, try the GOOGLE DIRECTORY listed below. When a site appears in a Google directory, that means it has been approved by the Open Directory project. The Open Directory is both picky and slow, thus guaranteeing that a site is better than average and has been around for quite awhile, at least by Internet standards.

Shareware/Windows/Security/Parental_Control/

But this directory is only the tip of the iceberg. If you look at the top left of the page, you’ll see a “Child Safety” section, along with much other monitoring and filtering computer software, all from established sources.
