Language Resources For Travelers
IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO LEARN FRENCH, GERMAN If you’re planning a trip to France in a few weeks, it’s probably too late to learn to read Madame Bovary in the original French, but not too late to learn how to talk your way through a number of tourist situations in French. Or in German, Spanish, Italian, or Greek. Or in several other languages taught through this BBC site. But this excellent BBC site does more than teach you tourist terms. Their motto is “A bit at a time, in your own time,” and, if you choose, you can learn a fair bit about a language, in easy steps, by listening to a native speaker. And the price is right. Like so many good things on the Internet, these lessons are free. http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/ A LANGUAGE EXCHANGE COMMUNITY They suggest you “find a partner at the online community and practice your second language (any language) with a native speaker who is learning your language. We host your online practice with lesson plans, text chat rooms and more.” http://www.mylanguageexchange.com/ |
