Planning A Trip

A TRAVEL SOCIAL SITE

TRIP WISER brings you together with other people who share your tastes in travel, whether it’s travel in the U.S., Africa, or Europe. And whether it’s travel with or without kids, by car, or by plane. Their strong point appears to be family vacations, including family timeshares, though they have a good deal of non-family material as well. By using TRIP WISER, you share the expertise of many other people with your interests.

TRIP WISER also says you can “use our open social platform to plan, share, collaborate, and book services with friends and selected suppliers (i.e ., itinerary planner, interactive route, printed itinerary with directions).”

PLANNING A TRIP?

Or just daydreaming? At WIKI TRAVEL, you first pick the continent you want to visit, then home in on the exact area and the travel tips. Because it’s a wiki travel site, it is constantly updated by real, actual travelers rather than by travel agents or government tourist offices. And, if you have special knowledge about an area, you can add to the site yourself.

Just to give the site a workout, I investigated NORTH DAKOTA, the least visited U.S. state. Well. It has 400 species of birds, the Badlands, buffalo herds, and a LOT of prairie dogs. My Aunt Ida, who was of Norwegian ancestry, grew up there, and her daughter Karen and son-in-law Ray Ruef attended its “Norsk Høstfest, North America's largest Scandinavian heritage festival,” last October, having a lovely time. Perhaps they should add their travel tips to this wiki site.

RICKSTEVES.COM gives similar tips from European travelers in the “Graffiti” section of his non-wiki site. Europe of course gives a travel site a bit more to work with than does North Dakota, and this is a great source of information for those traveling to Europe. Check it out at:
